CNG questions
What is CNG?
- CNG is an abbreviation for Compressed Natural Gas and consists primarily of methane (CH4) from underground sources.
- “Compressed” means that Natural Gas is being stored under high pressure in a certified cylinder container, so that large volumes can be loaded on vehicles.
- Natural Gas is widely considered to be one of the most viable alternative fuels used in at least 75 countries across the world. It is very environmentally friendly, being one of the cleanest burning fossil fuels.
- CNG reduces harmful exhaust emissions (e.g. smoke, soot, NOx and carbon monoxide) and greenhouse gases compared to traditional fuels.
- CNG is cost effective due to its abundance in nature compared to crude oil.
- CNG is a highly efficient transport fuel. The engines in today's Natural Gas vehicles (NGVs) are optimized for efficiency and top performance.
- Singapore has no natural resources and as such has to import all its energy requirements
- NG is being imported from Indonesia and Malaysia by licensed importers approved by the Energy Market Authority (EMA).
- The primary use of NG in Singapore is for power generation and other industrial purposes.
- Since 2002, Singapore has experimented with using NG as an alternative transport fuel for automotives such as buses and cars.

diesel questions
Does Smart Energy sell Euro 5 diesel?
Yes.
As an environmentally conscious company, Smart Energy only retails minimum Euro 5 diesel - known as Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) containing 10 ppm (parts per million) of sulphur - to reduce our impact on the environment. We also want to give our customers high quality, "cleaner" diesel to keep your vehicle's system and performance in top condition.
Why do I need to use Euro 5 standard diesel ?
Singapore only allows vehicle models that comply to Euro 5 and above emission standards. In turn, the Euro 5 diesel engines of such vehicles require higher grade, ultra-low sulphur content at only 10 ppm (parts per million) of sulphur.
Using diesel below Euro 5 standard (i.e. Euro IV (50ppm of sulphur) and below) contains higher sulphur content. This means that over time, your diesel vehicle engine's will accumulate more dirt and soot faster. If left uncleaned, it will worsen the performance, fuel economy and drivability of the vehicle. Thus, using low quality diesel can clog and damage your vehicle engine leading to more costs of repair and replacement.
In contrast, Euro 5 diesel helps keep your engine in great condition with less carbon deposits from fuel injectors, combustion chambers and spark plugs, giving you:
Does Smart Energy retail Adblue?
Yes, all our stations currently retail Adblue. AdBlue converts harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) from your diesel vehicle exhaust into harmless products, reducing the output of pollutant emissions that are a major source of pollution to the environment. It also improves engine performance and fuel efficiency for diesel engine owners.
The clear Adblue solution can be easily added to a separate storage tank in diesel-powered vehicles. It is safe to use and odorless. Adblue is inexpensive and efficient option for lowering NOx emission.

How do I earn points?
For every S$1 spend on diesel, you earn 1 Point in your Energy Card account. Points earned are calculated based on amount spent after all discounts and before GST, and are rounded down to the nearest point.

You may accumulate Points over multiple purchases made using your Energy Card, up to a maximum balance of 5000 Points.
How can I use the points earned?
Your Energy Card Points can be exchanged at the cashier for S-Mart cash vouchers at the conversion rate of 200 Points = S$1.00.

Physical copy of S-Mart Vouchers with QR code must be presented to the cashier to offset full or partial payment of your S-Mart purchases, and are only valid for 7 days from the date of redemption.
How can I check how many Points I have?
The sales receipt you receive after each diesel purchase will reflect your latest Energy Card Points balance. Alternatively, you may approach our cashiers to check for you.
If I did not bring / use my Energy Card at the time of diesel purchase, can I get the Points re-credited to my account by presenting the receipt at a later time?
Your Energy Card needs to be scanned at the Point of Sales in order to activate the verification of your Smart Energy membership. Thus, even if you may present your Energy Card together with the receipt at a later time, we regret that we are unable to credit the points to your account for your previous purchase.
If I lost my card, what will happen to my Energy Points?
Please immediately report Lost Card to the cashier.
We will cancel your old card before issuing a new card to you under the same VIP or IC number (Please note that issuance of new card will require verification and admin fee of $5). Any remaining card balance and Energy Points in your previous card will be transferred to the new card.
